Following the oath of Santa Gadea, El Cid is banished but manages to conquer Valencia for his king, who grants him forgiveness. His daughters married the Infantes of Carri\u00f3n, but are seriously humiliated by them in the &#8220;Corpes affront.&#8221; El Cid achieves the dishonor and defeat of the infantrymen.
