It extends over an area of 104.49 km2 and is located at an altitude of 720 m above sea level. It is the most dynamic economic nucleus, along with the capital, of the province; Its activities include commerce, agriculture and the furniture industry. And the series <em>Isabel<\/em> is a testament to this.  <\/span>In the <strong>Royal Testamentary Palace,<\/strong> Queen Isabel I spent her last months of life and dictated her will and codicil before dying in 1504. Declared a Cultural Heritage Site in 2003, it currently houses the Queen Isabel I of Castile Interpretation Center. <\/p>\nThis town is also home to the <strong>Castillo de la Mota<\/strong>, a fortress built on the old medieval walls of the 12th century. The Catholic Monarchs were the ones who provided it with a large defensive barrier with a modern underground shooting gallery and a surrounding moat, making it one of the first castles in all of Europe to be adapted for the use of artillery. In this castle the Mirador de la Reina stands out with its vaulted polychomed ceiling from the 15th century and the favourite room of Isabel I. The <strong>Royal Butcher Shop<\/strong> located on the banks of the Zapardiel River, is a food market built during the reign of the Catholic Monarchs and still retains its original function today.
