It was famous for the production of artisanal tiles that can be seen on many of the buildings in the municipality, built with a technique consisting of overlapping courses of pebble and slate and sometimes also red brick or tile.","localizacion_rutas":"\u201cA sunny day on the plateau, the countryside is still yellowing, although autumn is near, a few groups of pines here and there distract the monotony of a landscape that opens up from time to time to the mountainous horizon.\u201d This is how Saura describes the Castilian landscape of Melque de Cercos in the first sequences of <em>Elisa, vida m\u00eda<\/em>, a place that helps understand the protagonist of the film.<br><br>Located 35 km from the capital Segovia, Melque de Cercos was founded in the 11th century after the battle of Simancas, like most of the villages south of the Duero River. The quiet town is watered by the waters of the Cercos stream and surrounded by vast meadows. It was famous for the production of hand-made tiles that can be identified in many of its buildings.
