Juan, a seven-year-old boy with a wild imagination, lives in a poor neighborhood of Madrid. At night, he suffers nightmares in which a faceless intruder savagely attacks him, with his mother powerless to stop it. Meanwhile, Mia, a twelve-year-old Londoner, reads to her classmates the mysterious story of Hollowface, a monster obsessed with children. That same day, her father suffers an accident at the skyscraper under construction where he works. The lives of the two families, although separated by many miles, will be turned upside down: the intruders have already moved into their homes and are desperately trying to steal something from the children.
