Based on the novel by Concha Espina, the film takes place in a miserable Maragata hacienda, whose situation can only be solved through a marriage of convenience. During a train trip the marriageable girl falls in love with a young poet and is reciprocated. The family is opposed to this relationship, since they have promised her to marry a man of good position.
