The Holy Metropolitan Basilica Cathedral Church of Santa María is a cathedral temple of Catholic worship dedicated to the Virgin Mary, in the city of Burgos. It belongs to the archdiocese of Burgos. Its construction began in 1221 following the French Gothic style, with successive works and extensions over the centuries in accordance with the needs of History. In 1895 it was declared a National Historical-Artistic Monument and in 1984, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
