On the left bank of the Adaja river, overlooking the city from the west, stands the "humilladero" (small hermitage on the outskirts of the town) of San Sebastián, popularly known as Los Cuatro Postes. And it is that the ensemble is made up of four monolithic Doric columns joined by an architrave, which bears the coat of arms of the city; in the center a granite cross. It was built in 1566, with authors arguing that it was built where a small temple would have been erected in Roman times. There are also those who claim that it was built to commemorate the place where Francisco de Cepeda, Teresa de Jesus' uncle, found the saint and her brother Rodrigo when these fled to suffer martyrdom in the land of the Moors.
