Town
Its location on a high bend, sheltered by the confluence of the Tera and Castro rivers, made Puebla de Sanabria a strategic location and the scene of numerous battles over the centuries. The town is recognized as a Historic-Artistic Site. It still preserves many of its walls, its castle, dating from the second half of the 15th century, and the parish church of Nuestra Señora del Azogue, from the late 12th century. Its municipal area is close to the Sanabria Lake Natural Park.
