Castilla y León Film Commission is participating in MAFIZ, the industry area of the 28th Málaga Film Festival, as part of the Regional Film Hub. This event takes place within the framework of the 19th edition of the Spanish Screenings Content, from March 17-21 at the NH Málaga Hotel.
MAFIZ was created with the aim of promoting and disseminating Ibero-American cinema internationally. This space has become a key platform for industry professionals from Latin America and Europe to develop new business and collaboration networks, and the Regional Film Hub is the platform for promoting and disseminating cinema from the various Autonomous Communities of Spain. Throughout the fair, a series of events were organized to facilitate connections between filmmakers, producers, and other industry professionals.
The objective of participating in MAFIZ is to facilitate the participation of production companies from Castilla y León and foster the dissemination and promotion of the region’s cinematography throughout the international audiovisual market. To this end, the film commission will have a stand where it will provide information on its locations, support lines, and services to the sector, hold business meetings and professional gatherings, and support the delegation of more than 20 attending production companies. This stand will showcase the promotional video “Castilla y León, A Film Set,” along with a lineup of recent and ongoing audiovisual projects in Castilla y León.
The participation of the Castilla y León Film Commission has allowed production companies from Castilla y León to obtain a 50% discount on industry accreditation.
Castilla y León will be represented at the Málaga Film Festival by the films “La huella del mal” by Manuel Ríos San Martín, filmed in Atapuerca and “Polígono X” by recent Goya winner Néstor López, which received funding from the Council of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Regional Government of Castilla y León. Within the Spanish Screenings Content section, “Los rapaces” by Leonese Julu Martínez will be screened, and within the Spanish Bombs Docs section, the documentary short film “La raíz” by Burgalese Isabel Sáez Pérez will be present.
