Castilla y León Film Commission has collaborated in the organization of the talk “Doppelgänger Destinations: Location Dubbing in Film,” which will take place at the Basque Institute of Architecture on September 25, 2025.
The Basque Institute of Architecture, in collaboration with Castilla y León Film Commission, is organizing a panel discussion to explore how the seventh art constructs, transforms, and reinterprets the spaces we inhabit. Specifically, it will explore the use of urban doubles in film shoots when a preferred location is inaccessible or too expensive to film.
Through four different case studies of films such as “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” and “Doctor Zhivago,” Kristine Guzmán of the Castilla y León Film Commission, Sergio García of the Sad Hill Cultural Association, film director Víctor Matellano, and film location specialist Gorka Askasibar will show us the importance of architecture in film locations.
