The year is 1973. Uruguay is under the control of a military dictatorship. One autumn night, nine Tupamaro prisoners are taken from their cells in a secret military operation. The order is clear: “Since we couldn’t kill them, we’re going to drive them crazy.” For more than a decade, the prisoners remain isolated in tiny cells where they spend most of their time hooded, tied up, in silence, isolated, deprived of their basic needs, barely fed, and with their senses reduced to a minimum. Among those prisoners was Pepe Mújica, who much later became President of Uruguay. (FILMAFFINITY)
