On occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of one of the most important Andalusian poets and playwrights of the Generation of ’98, Manuel Machado’s work demands a fair vindication that places him among the writers of the 20th century who worked hardest for a poetry essentially inspired by Andalusian roots and with an enormous popular bias. In addition, the discovery in 2021 of the unpublished play “La diosa Razón”, written by Manuel and Antonio Machado just before they separated definitively due to the Civil War, represents a literary event of the first order that deserves to be highlighted.
