19th century. After a long war, a baby is abandoned at the door of a convent of Franciscan friars who try, unsuccessfully, to find a family for him. Years pass, and although the boy lives happily among the monks, he cannot stop longing for his mother. Marcellino befriends a crucified Christ in the attic of the convent: he talks to him and brings him bread, wine and other provisions that he finds from the kitchen. (FILMAFFINITY)
