The funeral chapel of the Benavente family was ordered to be built by Álvaro de Benavente in 1544 and is located in the Church of Santa María de Mediavilla, on the Gospel side, separated by a magnificent gate by Francisco Martínez, dated 1554. The works were carried out by the Hermanos del Corral with decoration of polychrome and gilded stucco work in the Michelangelo style, as well as brick and tile flooring. The magnificent Mannerist altarpiece is the work of Juan de Juni and tells the story of the Virgin in five bas-reliefs.
