Casa Luelmo

Architecture and heritage

Historic heritage, Palaces

The former home of the poet José María Luelmo, a member of the Arts of the Immaculate Conception, this 1907 Palace-House is currently one of the headquarters of the Santa María la Real Foundation for Historical Heritage. Miguel Delibes, Francisco Pino, Vicente Aleixandre, Jorge Guillén and even Federico García Lorca all lived here. Known as "Villa Paulita", the work of the architect Ortiz de Urbina, the building was commissioned by Rufo Luelmo. The layout of the floor plan follows the scheme of a swastika, the central core of which is the main staircase. This scheme is asymmetrical in one of its arms, the south-west one, and in the placement of the tower. The house is located in the Alameda Park, surrounded by trees and gardens.
