Cistierna is the capital of the León municipality of the same name, located in the eastern mountain area of León. Perhaps the most striking monument here is the Church of Santa María built on top of a previous one from the 17th century, which is remodeled and converted into a museum and exhibition hall. There is a 15th century Main Chapel, part of a Baroque altarpiece and some beautiful tabernacles. There is also an image of Saint Mary from the 17th century with her respective chasuble. Next to the Church is a monument dedicated to the elderly and across the square is the House of Culture.
