Located in the heart of the Sierra de Atapuerca, Mina Esperanza is an old mining operation rehabilitated for tourism, located in the Burgos town of Olmos de Atapuerca. Inside the mine is a small permanent exhibition called "The Underbelly of the Earth". The exhibition summarizes in a simple and graphic way the history of mining in Spain, detailing this activity in the province of Burgos and the Atapuerca region, from the Neolithic to the present.
