Forming part of the structures attached to the Convent of Carmen Calzado de San Andrés, known as the “Escorial of Salamanca” due to its large scale and austere architectural style, the Pozo de Nieve is an amazing construction in which the snow brought on mules from the mountains of Francia and Béjar was stored and preserved to turn it into ice, which was then used to make ice cream or sherbet, as a preservative or for therapeutic purposes.
