Real Monasterio de Santo Tomás

The Dominican Monastery of Santo Tomás was built in 1482 and completed in 1493. Later, at the initiative of the Catholic Monarchs, a palace was built around the eastern cloister, or "of the Kings," and the tomb of Infante Don Juan, who died in 1497, was built in the church. The complex comprises three cloisters, and the palace houses a Museum of Oriental Art and a Museum of Natural Sciences. In 1931, it was declared a National Monument.
