Castle
The Poza de la Sal Castle is one of the most spectacular and impregnable fortresses in the province of Burgos. Defense was a constant concern in the Castilian towns in the Middle Ages, but in Poza it was even more so due to the control of the passage from La Bureba to the Páramo and the safeguarding of the salt mines, a primary source of wealth for its inhabitants. On the slopes of the mountain where the fortress is located are the ruins of the Dominican convent, which is barely visible today.
