Siega Verde Archaeological Site

Landscape and nature

Archaeological Site, Mountain range, River

In just over a kilometer, on the left bank of the Agueda River, there are almost a hundred panels showing no less than 600 figures, mostly animals. To date, it holds the privilege of being the artistic site with the largest number of known Paleolithic images. These always appear engraved, identifying various species. Although horses and bovines are the majority, there are also woolly rhinoceros, deer, goats and canids. There is no shortage of human representations, which, by the way, are very rare in Paleolithic cave paintings.
