“A Movie Trip Through Castilla y León” is an exhibition of the five film routes illustrated by the artist Luis Pérez Calvo presented at the latest edition of FITUR, organized by the Council of Culture, Tourism and Sports, through the Castilla y León Film Commission.
The Council of Culture, Tourism and Sports inaugurates the exhibition ‘A Movie Trip Through Castilla y León’ at the Miguel Delibes Cultural Center, which is open until May 17.
Aware of the value of film tourism, Castilla y León Film Commission has designed five routes with different themes to highlight films and series shot in Castilla y León. Orson Welles’s Castilla y León, Castilla y León: The Western Territory, Carlos Saura’s Castilla y León, Castilla y León in Series, and Castilla y León: Route of El Cid are some of the routes that serve to showcase the extensive audiovisual activity in the region, as well as the towns that have been featured on the big screen. These towns may have a direct correspondence between the real and fictional locations; other times, they represent another location, demonstrating the versatility of the region’s landscape or architecture.
El artista Luis Pérez Calvo (Madrid, 1962) ha ilustrado estas rutas cinematográficas por Castilla y León, basándose en los carteles de la época, recortes de prensa, imágenes o fotogramas de escenas. Su trabajo, generalmente basado en el dibujo, es fruto de una meticulosa observación de su entorno, que representa a través de una cartografía manierista en la que recoge monumentos, paisajes u otros detalles. Utiliza su personal estilo que combina el cómic, los mapas y la caligrafía, para representar los lugares icónicos de las películas y series rodadas en Castilla y León, y contribuir así al turismo de pantalla.
The exhibition features original drawings made by Pérez Calvo with information about each route, as well as a mural intervention.
This initiative contributes to the promotional efforts being carried out to position Castilla y León as a filming location and to create tourist itineraries linked to filmmaking through Castilla y León Film Commission.
