The "El Plantío" Winery Complex is located in the area of Hondo, at the foot of the town of Atauta, district of San Esteban de Gormaz, in the Ribera del Duero of Soria. This town is located at the top of a rocky ledge about 970 meters high, separated from the group of wineries by the Arroyo de la Laguna or Golbán. "El Plantío" is made up of a total of 141 wineries, as well as communal winepresses and other complementary buildings, which occupy an approximate area of three hectares. According to the preserved inscriptions, the Winery Complex was built for the most part during the 19th century, reaching its maximum development in the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th, driven by the significant demand for wine produced from France for the occasion.
