Architecture and heritage

Castle

The Templar Castle of Ponferrada is considered the most notable in northwest Spain. Its prehistoric origins relate it to a settlement during the first Iron Age. Its privileged location turned it into a walled enclosure with different rooms inside. A total of 8,000 square meters make up the historical remains of this impressive Castle. It has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) and a National Monument since 1924.
