Madrigal de las Altas Torres represents a unique case of a fortified medieval town that is located on a plain, in an area with no type of natural defense. It stands out in the plains of Castile, land of bread and famous wines. The remains of the wall, the palace of Juan II, the urban layout and the churches and monasteries are testimony to its art, its culture and its rich history. The town is declared a Site of Cultural Interest due to its strategic location as a defensive bastion on the border with the kingdom of León.
