Santa María la Real de Nieva boasts one of the most complete historical and artistic collections of reliefs depicted in its capitals, bands, and archivolts. All of them provide a detailed account of early medieval Spanish society. This entire narrative sequence is condensed within a former Dominican convent and its church, whose cloister and portal from the early 15th century have been declared National Monuments.
